Call for Applications: Various Positions under DoT TTDF-Funded Research Project
Next Generation Networks Lab

The Next Generation Networks Laboratory (NGNLab), located in the Department of Computer Technology at Anna University, MIT Campus, was established in 2012 with initial support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Under the leadership of Professor Gunasekaran Raja, the lab has evolved into a leading research center specializing in advanced communication systems, intelligent mobility, and secure network infrastructure. In 2024, the lab expanded further with the establishment of the 6G Ubiquitous Connectivity Lab, funded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), India, focusing on next-generation connectivity for key sectors such as healthcare and agriculture.

NGNLab’s multidisciplinary research spans Next Generation Networks (5G/6G), Quantum Network Security, Unmanned Aerial and Autonomous Vehicles, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computer Vision, and more. The lab has led several high-impact projects with a combined sponsorship value exceeding ₹425 lakhs, supported by national and international agencies, including DST, DoT, Erasmus+, and DAAD. It maintains strong national collaborations with institutions such as IIT Madras and has forged global partnerships with reputable universities, including Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore; the University of Auckland, New Zealand; Trinity College Dublin; the University of Jena; and many others. NGNLab also collaborates with leading industry and R&D partners, including Samsung Research India and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), among others.

The lab’s innovations are frequently showcased at top global conferences, such as IEEE INFOCOM, ICC, GLOBECOM, and VTC, and published in leading international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and the IEEE Internet of Things (IoT) Journal. These contributions underscore the lab’s commitment to high-impact research and global academic leadership.

With over 145 publications, several filed patents, and alumni who have received prestigious fellowships and positions in academia and industry worldwide, NGNLab is a recognized hub of excellence and innovation. It also offers student exchange programs with international institutions, enabling global research exposure and collaborative academic engagement. NGNLab continues to be a vibrant ecosystem for transformative research, innovation, and societal impact, reinforcing its leadership at the forefront of technological advancement.
